Yeahhhhhh, fixed my NES

So in the last few weeks I've started obsessing over retro gaming...I know emulators work, but they aren't the same as cartridges systems and controllers on a TV.

So over the last week I've been going nuts trying to fix my NES. I learned soooooo much about their innar workings and how to fix them. Been at it all week, and finally got it to the point where it reads every game I have the first time. No blowing in them, no wiggling the bitches around, just plays exactly like I bought it new in 1985.

Haha, sorry for the pointless thread. I'm just really proud of myself and wanted to tell someone other than the people in my house who don't give a shit :lol:

I'm gonna start restoring systems I find at garage sales and ebaying 'em for big monies. As well as repairing systems and professionally cleaning cartridge games for a locally owned retro gaming store. :cool:

So True my friend. Me and my girlfriend together have alot of systems. The ones that get played the most are the older ones, probably cause they have the best games! We have every Nintendo console on the market.They all dont work at 100% but we keep em in good shape.

I've still got all of my old systems

and I found a guide online on how to turn a NES into a emulator console.
I got like 7 in various levels of working order so I've always wanted to try and build one

Turns out 99% of the reason most NESes won't work is the games. You can clean them all day with rubbing alcohol and they still won't be clean. If you use a dab of some shit called "Brasso" brass polish it cleans them up instantly (then you use the iso alcohol to remove the leftover film).

It fixed a game I have NEVER gotten to work, so well that it works the first time every time.

The problem after that is the connector within the system, which is pretty easy to replace :thumbup:

Fuck yeah bro, I was 4 when I got my first NES. I had that thing up until I was in Middle School. I don't recall what happened to it though. I had like 30 different games, haha. Megaman was one of my top favorites by far. That and Zelda. The 2nd Zelda game was hella lame though, all side-scroller style n' shit. I played A LOT of The Blue Marlin too, haha.

I love going to garage sales looking for old games. People sell them for like a quarter each, and I'd have to spend $10 - $55 each online for the games I want.

I don't really feel bad buying them from people who don't know what they're worth, because its not like I'm just gonna flip them on ebay. If anything (like, its an expensive game I already own) I'm going to trade it to other collectors for games. So, guilt free. :cool:

I still got my original NES from when i was a kid, but gives me a shit tone of trouble.  So I wouldn't mind fixing her up

That might be worth a pretty penny. Most of the FF or Dragon Warrior games seem to fetch quite a bit on ebay. :mad2:

The games I really love the most creep up to the $100 range. Earthbound, Tomba 1 and 2. :mad2:

Oh yea, FFIII was at 70 bucks over ebay about 2-3 years ago. Considering i'd have to pay that much if I ever wanted one of the remakes I just keep it. I would prefer to play a remake more honestly though, extra content. I just like the cartridge, because this exact same cartridge is the one my brother used to make me fall in love with video games.

I have my FFVII disc too, but  I bet that isn't expensive.

TMNT: Manhattan Project was my favorite. I beat that fucking rat boss in the subway only a few times, and I'm pretty sure there was still like 1/2 a game to go after that.

Maybe the Konami code works on that game...if it does maybe I could beat it.

Someday I'm going to build a 1/2 scale Bender and a NES in there. Power/AV cords coming out behind, controllers in front, game plugging into his teeth.

Shouldn't be too tough and it'll be cool as fuck.

it was mainly N64 games i used it for. mario 64, gex, banjo kazooie goldeneye yoshi story.

basicly the games me and my brother spent the first decade of our life playing.

i also downloaded a program that allowed me to use my ps3 controller instead of the keyboard. but i cant remember what it was called:frown:

just going to hook the laptop up to the tv and it will be as good as having the nintendo all over again :awehigh:

I have my NES with all the accessories and games in my living room, my roomies all brough stuff they had from home and how we have an assload of games :feelsgoodman:
