Drugs never work. They only delay and often worsen the apex of the condition.

Rooting ot the problem is the only way.

Speaking from experience concerning escaping with drugs, I've tried every way imaginable in that direction. Had some good times.

So does the depression. It learns and adapts making it harder to deal with.

The only tried and true advice I know is to find a goal. Something you really want and is positive in your life potential. Make the conquest of that your drug. Put anything that gets in your way aside and focus solely an your conquest.

Once it's achieved you may find yourself depressed again in spite of a life lifting conquest.

At least you will be in a better position with more options for dealing with it.

Beats option

I guess.

Good luck.

And no, marijuana does not cure depression. :nonono:

Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism.

The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees for A.A. membership; we are self-supporting through our own contributions. A.A. is not allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organization or institution; does not wish to engage in any controversy; neither endorses nor opposes any causes. Our primary purpose is to stay sober and help other alcoholics to achieve sobriety.

If you are even semi-intelligent (which I believe all of you are) you know just how fucked up and ass backwards our world is.

Anyone living in a world as crazy as ours is bound to be depressed. And, if by some miracle you're not, its because you aren't thinking hard enough.

IME the only way to stop yourself from constantly being worried/upset/depressed about how shitty everything is, is to take appreciation in the small things in life. It sounds so lame and so cliche, but things are cliche for a reason.

Look around you. For everything there is to be depressed about, theres something to be happy about. Friends, family, pets, sunshine, air, trees, material objects, whatever. If you can learn to let the everyday shit we take for granted make you happy, you can achieve a good balance of happiness/depression.

Good luck dude. I feel your pain. Day by day man, thats the best way to live :thumbup::peace:

--------------------
Of course it's happening inside your head.
Why should that mean it isn't real?

I've lived with anxiety, depression, and self loathing ever since I was old enough to really understand the world around me.. I've been trying to get myself out of it for years now.

What's helping me right now, is bettering myself, I've been working on expanding my consciousness, and doing whatever I can to better myself mentally and physically. I think it really boils down to mental strength, it's hard for me to accept how fucked up and backwards the world is, but I'm trying to make things better, starting with myself.

Just be around people that make you happy, do things that make you happy, get yourself a new mindstate.. I used to be a very serious escapist, and I tried to use almost whatever substance I could get my hands on to try to escape reality, but ever since I decided to start over and get myself a new mindstate, I didn't even have to worry about becoming dependent or anything anymore. Try to get yourself in a nicer mindstate, also, exercise does wonders for depression, I just got done running until my veins pumped battery acid, and then I did some workouts, my muscles ache, but I feel pretty fucking good.. :yesnod:

Best advice yet.
Also the root of the problem may not specifically mean external causation, like your moms troubles.

Someone once told me to just "feel what your feeling", I really found there to be truth in this, but you have to do some thinking. Its sort of like a meditation. The less you resist the quicker it is over I have found.

Also exercise is a must, for the endorphins and good stuff it releases in the brain, as well as sweating out some bad stuff.

Funny how the cure all around here is marijuana.

Depression is a natural state of being the same as happiness is.  It ebbs and flows just go with it until you figure something out.  Take it slow.

maybe just find a hobby, i wouldn't bother going on anti depressants or anything, the doctors prescribe drugs far too often these days, unnecessarily imo.

My name makes me $$$

Without a wake and bake to get my head straight the bastards would eat me alive

:bonghit2:

On a helpful note, I'm often depressed and even if smoking weed doesn't actual solve anything it does keep the lows from getting bad. It also helps with introspection which can lead to some personal breakthroughs.

Depression is a way of life for some folks, we drew the shitty genetics card which allows our brains to put us in spots where a "normal healthy" persons brain would probably never venture.

I always remember that no matter how shitty I feel there is guaranteed at least one human being worse off than me, so quit being such a little bitch and appreciate anything good I have going for me.
