Someone from a long time ago told me "you can flush your plant with vanilla extract or mint extract & flav your plant. Has anyone tried this? I think kelp brings out the natural flavour and then just flush with water and a low dose of fertalizer. Im wondering about...flush with flavor when to flush with the extract & how much flavor it adds to the plant. I heard people flushing with wiskey and adding a nice taist is their any truth to this?

im pretty sure the roots would just filter out the flavor. people fertilize their plants and dont get poop flavored bud so i realy doubt it would work with vanilla

Well in theory, I think it would work. Kinda like the celery and dye test from grade school. Though I think it would really just make the smoke harsh. Breeders spend a lot of time pulling out phenotypes for flavors. That would be your best bet.

Won't work. You can't flavor the plant by adding stuff to the water.

That is right. And the celery thing works because the food coloring is carried in form of a lipid.
When I was a beginner I tried it with OJ. I was so glad I had waited until the last couple of weeks of flowering since it caused the plants to crash about 2 days after I started applying it.

Better to stick to flavored strains and devoted the needed energy to pull the best flavor. But I still kinda think the celery and dye is a good example of what he wants to do. He is saying cut the branch of buds off and set it in a glass of vanilla/water. As if he was starting a cutting. Still If it did draw up anything, dont think it would be too tasty

I agree with concentrating on the genetics. Give the plants what they need and let them do the work.
The celery thing works because of how celery transpires. Cannabis transpiration works on the same principles, but other factors involved with water transportation in a cut cannabis branch prevent it from even carrying lipid-based food colorings in the same manner. Even that is barely relevant, since we are talking about trying the idea on something more complex like a flavor. Coloring vesicles is much easier due to the way the food coloring molecules are transported.
In a way this is fortunate for us. If flavoring was that easy we would have a lot of buds that taste like horse shit and fish emulsion.
