I have a new outlet timer. It has pins that you push down/pull up for the on/off time.
It has 6 AM on it, and across from it, 6 PM. It also has two 12's, across from each other...so, what I'm getting at, is it has 24 hours on the timer.
However, the box it came in says "12 hour timer"...whats this about? Does that mean it shows the full 12 hours twice rather than once?
Ugh, I'm just confused. I want to use this thing for 18/6 so I can cut down on my power bill from 24/0.
Sorry to be such a noob, I just don't want to start flowering my plants on accident because I fucked up with my timer.

if its a $7.00 lamp timer from wallmart its may cause you problems in the future if you are really growing cannabis ..
These timers are made for a few lamps. not 1k Hps lamps ect.. If you want a real timer got to home depot and get a pool timer/ they are made of metal and have better switches.
This wallmart timer may slip from time to time/ the pegs on it are not perfect. one day the lamp is to be on and isnt .. youll see the green peg slipped over the switch ..
If your timer has a face on it.. green peg on 12am, Lamp off at 6Pm ... this is 18hrs.. green peg on 12am red on 12pm this is 12hrs.

My timers look the same. Just push down 18hrs worth of pegs and your set.

push down pegs also have this internal slipping from time to time.. be very careful when flowering buds with cheezy timers..
Veg/ I usually dont care what timers I use as cycles can be interrupted with minimum damage.

cheesy timers like those are really only good for small pumps or fans. If you need to make a better timer system while using them get a relay and use the timer to power the relay to turn on the lights.
