temperature fluctuations/drying out Q
    #492345 - 10/27/10 12:02 PM (13 years, 5 months ago)

Does anyone know how badly temperature fluctuations as well as drying out(till the plant gets all droopy) will affect the plant's health/growth.

The temp. in my tent gets like 10 degrees too high or low for a few hours about every other day and got way too dry like 4-5 times over the past month.

The room my tent is in has no insulation and the weather's been wacky plus this kush just keeps surprising me with how much she drinks:tongue:

Every morning I offer my body, my mind and any ability that I posses, to be used by Thee, O infinite creator, in whatever way Thou dost choose to express Thyself through me. I know that all work is Thy work, and that no task is too difficult or too menial when offered to Thee in loving service.

Well, temperature fluctuations are not as big a deal as people make them seem to be.  Cannabis can grow fine in 90-100 F temps (kapt kid did an entire grow at 90 F and recorded a log so you can see for yourself), granted growing them in the high 70's low 80's is best.

As for drying out, if your plants are constantly wilting you're putting them through undue stress which is never good for your plants.  If they're drinking that much you need to be lifting your pots every night just to check.  However, I don't think the amount of times your plant wilted would really be enough to put them through any major stress (provided you corrected the problem quickly and didn't let them come close to death each time).

I say you're gonna be fine and just keep a better eye out on your containers.

I feel that if you keep letting them wilt that in the end it will affect your yield and the quality of your end product.  That is if you allow it to happen while flowering.  As long as it's during the veg stage I don't think it will affect anything but how quickly they grow.

I've had Hermi issues due to late watering where I let the young plants get way to thirsty and they wilt bad.

I don't know if this is relevant, but I keep temp between 60f-70f,(high70s+ will speedup seed production)and high temp stress will cause hermies, but i have found if you tweeze the pollen balls daily, until they no longer appear, usually 2-3 days, it will produce very heavy buds with long sticky hairs,.

High temps will not cause your plant to hermaphrodite, unless you already have an extremely unstable strain to begin with.  I run temps around 90-100  on a regular basis with no hermies EVER popping up.

My herms were from letting them wilt bad from lack of water on at least 2 occasions during the first 3 weeks of growth.
I too have had high temps, for sure during the summer, and have not had herm issues due to them.
