If I want to pull a motor out of a truck using a rope and some chain attached to another truck over the base of a tree branch, would more lateral motion put less strain on the branch overall, or would it not matter what direction the motion was in?

It would be smarter to use many pulleys.
Done right you could raise and lower the motor with one hand.

Engine out. Now the real challenge is can we use said branch to lower in the replacement motor.
I'd take some video but the camera was potentially damaged during a down pour earlier, its gotta dry out.

Yeah, as long as its holding out you can probably use it to put it back in, I would put a piece of tarp over the branch so that the rope will slide a little easier and its not notchy going in, that way do don't end up havin it fal a few inches quickly and pinch the harness or break something else.

It came out like a fucking dream. My cousin was the only one crazy enough to get in there and position it, the rest of us pushed the truck out of the way.
Fuck yeah.
I have my doubts about dropping the new one in, but I had doubts about pulling it out too.
If I don't post after today then I was probably killed.
