So since ive only brought argument i figured id do something a little helpful to people. Im gonna assemble a quick list of some mountain tricks that arent in the everyday gardening book. These are all for outdoor growers. These should taken as a suggestion for a hot arid environment, different environments will call for different figures.
First off you need a huge hole, i couldnt recommend any less than 6ft wide and 2ft deep. really... go 8x3or4. or 10x4(400cubic feet ~ 15yds)!!
Only use genetics you KNOW are good. Start seeds a few days before the second new moon in febuary.
there are a few things that are essential to huge plants..
Watering method- There are many that are good, but to get a plant super wide you need to make em reach for it. Always water the majority of your water at the edge of the foliage to 2ft beyond in a ring all thee way around. get the middle moist but it doesnt need much. Then they need to go at least 2 days w/o water at least once ea week to reach for that water.
once big and its 100 out you should be watering at least 20-30gal/plant at least 3 times a week.
Composted Chicken manure! arguably the best top dressing available. Try top dressing about 10days after transplanting into your large hole. Create a ring of chicken shit about a foot wide about 12-18" outside of your widest foilage. Use an ENTIRE BAG (1cu ft) of either EB Stone or Stutzman Supr Green. Within 2-3 weeks this ring will be filled. Repeat at 40 days after transplant unless it is within 6 weeks of flowering. DO NOT top dress nitrogen within 6-8weeks of flowering.
Do not put any other fertilizer other than compost tea at 2 week intervals made from worm castings, liquid karma, kelp, fish. or your favorite tea. You may fertilize with a grow formula 2-3 weeks after the second top dressing if flowering is still weeks away.
weekly check pH of soil and water/nutrient solution.
the bloom will rage nice just having all the nice soil you set up and a super bloom every couple weeks. with some aged bat guano sprinkled. dont use guano in water. it often has large quantities of curreently unsoluable nitrogen..
There are way too many things you need to know to make it all dialed in.. but these seem to be a few good tricks!
