I just cleaned my pipe the other day before I got a bag, it tastes sooo good. I usually clean my pipe after every 8th I smoke though, then I just give the pipe tar to my friends that fiend for weed.
Sucks though because my pipes look way cooler when they are filled in but I hate a dirty pipe.

i usually just clean mine with boiling water, it comes out pretty clean. but i definatley need to get myself some iso alcohol.

ISO alcohol is a weak cleaner at best.
OxyClean and hot water is the bomb 
Alcohol is good for getting the bigger chunks out
but it cant get that resin out of the corners

I have some of this stuff called formula 420 that my old roommate gave me before he moved to Portland
Works pretty good.

I've never tried formula 420, or oxyclean. Hot water and a paperclip usually works good enough. And if it doesn't, iso alcohol has yet to fail me, plus its cheap as hell.

OxyClean is a general purpose cleaner that is commonly used in laundry here in the U.S.
It can be used for many other thing though, just ask Billy Mayes 
We buy it by the bucket because it is such a good cleaner.
I use alcohol for a general cleaning to get the bigger chunks and what not out
but when I want to go that extra step and remove ALL THE GUNK
OxyClean is the only thing I have found that can easily do it in less than 15 minutes
Formula420 will work but it takes several cleanings and a lot of time
Alcohol and salt is a piss poor method of getting a completely clean pipe IME
