The bastards didn't secure the light at all, they threw it into the box with the ballast, so during transport, I'm pretty sure the ballast has fucked up the bulb somehow 
Waiting for the dude to write back, but it probably wont be till tomorrow

dam mate thats rough, im from Oz aswell and hopefully later towards the end of this year when i move out ill purchase a similar lighting setup, which is what im now concerned about
did u pick up a 400W or 600W? coz thats wat i was thinking of getting
also i recently purchased a similar grinder which works like a charm 
|

That ballast looks digital/electric, did the fan on the ballast start spinning? Are you sure its the bulb, if the bulb was faulty, you would see leaks and it would glow blue in certain areas.
Hope whoever you ordered it from provides a replacement free of charge (that includes shipping).
When my 600w MH/HPS bulbs arrived, the MH was destroyed; simply told them and they scheduled a pickup AFTER they delivered the new one.

yea its a digital one, but no, I heard no movement anywhere in the system the light didn't flicker at all, does this mean it could be a ballast problem and not a globe problem?

Does your ballast even have a visible fan? I ask because most 400s don't. Electronic Ballast are very quiet, I doubt you would be able to hear it to start with.
