Need some help with electric Equipment
#449851 - 07/22/10 11:20 AM (13 years, 9 months ago) |

I want to have a system that has the ability to Auto-Adjust so that I do not need to do it myself.
1) Set up a Thermometer to my in-line fan so that when Temps. go over or under an established amount my fan will work harder/weaker.
2) I would like to know how to hook up a Thermometer senor to something like a window A/C unit to control temperatures in my grow room automatically.
Any information on how to do this will help.

My buddy used a computer, a vortex fan, a solenoid valve, and some computer software to hook up a whole self-controlled system that he could actually access from a website off his phone. I will ask him how but he is like a prodigy so I don't if I will understand all of it, I am smart but he can do a Rubix cube behind his back in 14.2 secs.

I should set up something like this and a webcam on the plants and then just send Magash a link to the video and a phone to control it.

I purchased a product from the same company (Grozone) and it had day and night functions with thermostat control. (you set it to say 85F daytime, 78F nighttime for example) and it will maintain those temperatures. I bought it locally and it cost me $140. Haven't used it yet as I don't want to run a controller on my fans as it burns them out quicker, most of the inline fans are meant to run at full power all the time.

So it works in the same way as a rheostat, where it just decreases the output of energy to the fan, as opposed to just shutting it off?

thermostats. They should have them at any online retailer under "heat and lighting", or something similar
A quick search turned up this:

Does anyone have experience using a "Proportional Thermostat" in their Grow room but have it control their A/C unit?

wait, this is for an AC unit? Don't most AC units already have out put controls and thermostats built in?
Or am I just missing something obvious here?

I want to have a system that can detect temperature changes in my grow room and make a small A/C unit like this turn off/on or work harder/less as hard.
My intentions for this is to have my in-line fan move air from my A/C unit into my grow room without me having to check on the Temperature all the time during the summer.

You're looking for environmental/atmospheric controllers. Of which there tons of options to choose from. Try searching on google, the link above has a bunch to take a look at as well.

Coda your the man! +5
That's just what I have been looking for, I did look on Google but I wasn't sure if they had a specific name so I had little luck in finding anything resourceful.

Great link Coda.
Fow any new readers here, a great way to see an overview of much of the equipment, fertilizer lines, lighting, etc. that experienced growers are discussing is to pick up a copy of the Sunlight Supply, Inc. National Garden Wholesale product catalog.
I learned of new things by thumbing through the pages of this wholesale catalog. Got it for free from the hydro shop, though it has a $4.95 price tag on the back, so maybe they charge for it if you order a copy from their website.
I take notes in my catalog, get a new copy every year, and use it as a reference. ~P~

Most hydro shops have a case or two of catalogs from their suppliers. Mine uses sunlight supply as well, every friggin time I go in there they try to pawn another copy of it off on me lol. I always hand it back so someone else can have it, but yes, it is an awesome resource to have. Even if you can't order it from the magazine directly (I think they sell to retailers only) you can at least find it somewhere else.
MushrooMan420 - Glad it was what you wanted, thought you might be looking for something a little bit different.
