I found my new 250 watt HPS on my doorstep this morning, quickly brought it in and set it up. I'm now thinking, am I going to do any damage to my plants from switching from my old 150watt flourescent to the new 250w hps? Plants were on a 24hr lighting cycle, I plan to run it for 18/6 for a week or two to get a bit more size than 12/12 flowering.

I just did this recently. Had no problems.
If you just want to be safe. Raise the light 6 inchs extra for a light period. Then lower.
