Intake Fan Humidity
    #447104 - 07/16/10 01:27 PM (13 years, 8 months ago)

Outside humidity is 80% most of the time.

So the air coming into the grow room is always bringing the humidity back up now that the hoods are air cooled.

Fighting mold is a bitch.

The only solution I can think of is to install a dehumidifier for the intake. This will cost $250 to $300 plus tax plus installation.

Hoping someone has a cheaper idea?

I haven't tested it, but I did read that if you exhaust more than you take in then that should lower humidity.  If that's so you could try turning down the speed of the intake or increase the speed of the exhaust to correct your problem.  I found this info in a old Heads mag, written by Dr. Ed.  Keep in mind I have never tested it so I have no clue if it works.

Gona give this a go. Will turn down intake fan. Post back in 3 or 4 days.

Glad I'm growing a few. Needed to tweak the system.

I have also heard that filling a tube with perlite and blowing the air inside the growroom thru it with a fan will lower humidity, but only if your area to perlite ratio is good enough. My friend built a humidifer for his greenhouse, it isn't super hard.

If that failed:

I know A/C is expensive but you can hook up your intake to your A/C unit to keep temp and humidity down.
