Prop. 19 approval could decrease marijuana costs, increase consumption ...
    #443735 - 07/08/10 08:39 PM (13 years, 8 months ago)

http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/lanow/2010/07/proposition-19-marijuana-costs.html

Quote:

The cost of marijuana would drop as much as 80% and consumption would rise if Californians vote for Proposition 19, the legalization measure on the November ballot, researchers at Rand’s Drug Policy Research Center have concluded in a detailed analysis of the issue.

Your thoughts on this?

In my view, legalization will definitely bring down the prices of weed in California.
No studies needed. I think this one is a no-brainer.

Apparently a lot of dispense are opted to vote against it due to the high taxes.

by this prop then you would not need to get card and use dispensaries right? If that is what it says then yes prices would drop.

I would rather pay high taxes (used to bring down our state deficit) than continue obtaining it illegally and risk getting cited for using it.

Fucking cops. :crankey:

but you got to give credit to Arnold for going greener than most states and for even letting the mj laws go the way they did. I only know what I have seen in the news and he seems to be doing more than most states on certain things IMO more than my state so far.

I don't expect weed or acid to be legalized in Texas any time soon.

I wouldn`t either. Texas and Missouri are like the hardest states on MJ there is.

Sounds good to me $40 an ounce is way better than $200-$500.
I cant wait to see how this all works out.

The analogy I'd use is Whole Food's Vs. Safeway. Their will be higher priced and "better" marijuana and their will be cheaper, mass produced hormone injected, genetically altered marijuana. They first is for when you want the best, the latter gets the job done.

Given how high the prices are now, it would be pretty stupid to flood the market with low prices; but look on craigslist and see how low prices have become. I can get an Ounce of shake of medically grown marijuana for $80 and roll what, 32 joints? Man what a rip off, that is $2.50 per cigarette man.

That is the only way I can see it at the point. The price matching tobacco.

lol if this is true, which I believe it is; so much for everyone growing pot. It will be mass produced in fields outdoors. I guess growing personally is cool still, but the effort/cost will be much less of an incentive. Like I've been thinking about making beer for a long time. But given the cost of it, it's hard to just get up and running. To make money off it, you'd have to go mainstream, and distribute it. Much less incentive to make something when less money is involved; don't yah think?

But think about it, someone is still going to make a shitload of money exporting it illegally to other states. Wow, talk about all the states around California getting into border search dogs or something. I mean one person could export pounds to Nevada and still get what, $5,000 a pound? Or will it decrease the prices of cannabis nationally? Weird shit man.

My girlfriends older brother started brewing his own beer because he couldn't afford to keep drinking as much as he wanted. Now he drinks for .36cents a pint :gethigh:

Prices will go down fungi, and there will be no schwag.

Because in a mass producing set up, it just is not hard at all to make it not schwag.

Cali is gonna be our test state. I expect the rest of the west coast to follow next year, and I'd suspect parts of the northeast to legalize as well.
