1) i usually just fit something to the form/shape of the stone and then put a paper weight over it 2) as long as the roots are submerged and covered from the light then youre good 3) just use the liquid hormone
thats strange that the silicone didnt hold the airstone down, it could either be a)bad/old silicone b)the kind of silicone you got won't bond to the plastic, or c)you didnt wait long enough, it takes 24 hours to dry. Try some epoxy, or gorilla glue if you want to glue it down, or put some kind of weight on it like mh said.
For your second question, don't completely submerge the pots, thats not the point of the dwc system, the pots are not supposed to be underwater, just barely touching the surface. You want just the roots in the water, not the medium because that could be to much water and cause rot.
and your last question, use the powder stuff if you want, why not it will probably be more of a boost, I know that the liquid product WILL work by itself though, thats what its made to do, and the powder would work by itself to, if you put the two together you may have a higher rate of roots coming out. I would say to use the powder if you already own it, but you don't need to go out and buy some if all you have is the liquid rooting hormone. Hope that helps.

The time you enjoy wasting is not wasted time.
anything and everything i post on here is completely fictional and come straight from the deepest depths of the black hole which is my mind.
Hell yea, finally some answers worth a little praise...(shroomery people don't know shit... lol)
As far as the silicone goes, it's new i just clipped the end off before i used it... i think it just didn't like plastic. It didn't help that the bottom of my tub would warp upward so the stone didn't sit level, when i took off all the weight.
I already have the powder so i think I'll do an experiment, half with the powder and half without...
Use gel super glue. I use it in my salt water aquarium to glue corals down. You can even use it IN the water and it will glue it down with no problems. Doesn't affect my water quality at all.
1.Soak rockwool cubes in A.P.S 2.Drain excess APS & discard 3.Spray cuttings every second day with A.P.S.
Note: Use with a saturator for optimal results.
My questions are -
Will this work as well as the stuff you put directly into the water? Should i add nutrients to the water? What exactly does it mean by "Saturator"? I was assuming it would be my DWC system...
