So this is my first indoor grow under lights that are not fluorescents. I got this http://www.hidhut.com/catalog/250w-hpsmh-digital-ballast-bulb-and-glass-tube-reflector-combo-p-2297.html and set it up with some ducting and a computer fan in a cabinet (about 24"x28" and 7 feet tall) that i got from Ikea for about $60 and painted with primer and flat white paint. I bought 4 GDP clones and 4 Bubba kush clones from BPG dispensary. I also have four bagseed that I might put outside. Right now I have no door and have them under 24 hours of light. I transplanted the clones into 50% Black Gold soil and 50% perlite. I have a fan running that is at an angle so all the plants shake a little bit. The temperature rarely goes above 70 degrees F. The ballast is switchable so I will put in a hps bulb for flowering and will also put in a 65 watt cool white florescent bulb.
These pics are about a week old. I dont have camera so i have to borrow one. I have been rotating the plants 90 degrees a few times a day. I was watering them with light nut solutions but now i think that the roots are probably developed enough that they can get their nutes from the soil. I have moved them closer to the light.
Any ideas for an easy door design or cheap ventilation/filtration products are appreciated.

So no camera but an update: Some of them are yellowed from nute deficiencies, but their root systems are getting bigger so they will be fine. When i bought the clones and transplanted them a lot of them barley had roots touching the sides of the rockwool (sp?). They have all grown a lot, and are branching out a lot (a lot of lateral growth). I am watering them with Tiger bloom at 1 teaspoon per gallon and occasionally some bat guano (10-6-2) compost tea.
Questions:
If I am using a 250 watt hps cool tube + floros for flowering how tall should by GDP/Bubba Kush plants be so when i start to flower them? I want the whole plant to produce buds that are dense, so i dont want the plants to be so tall that they have shitty unfinished loose buds at the bottoms. I can put my plants very close to the cool tube, and they could very easily be 6 inches from the cool tube if I upgraded the fan i have on it.
Still looking for ideas on a door and air filtration ideas. Any advice is appreciated.

I dont know. I imagined a SOG type grow but i guess these strains are not good for that. The problem here is that time is short. I might be going back to Louisiana as soon as early August, so I do not have time to do to much pruning and waiting for them to bush out in some specific way. I can give them to friends to cure after harvest but nobody here could finish growing them. I think I have enough plants that I can take advantage of all the light without doing a SCROG.
Please correct me if anything i have said is wrong. Any suggestions appreciated.

I would suggest putting a screen in there. let em grow a it and start training them to it so each terminal bud has a slot to grow into. may be a few weeks of training. You can fill it up less if time is a huge issue. here would be something like your goal...
as for ventilation, just put a fan in there for now. i would think a small desk fan would do the trick for the time being. maybe add another later on. Good luck!

I have a fan in there now. It is at an angle so it makes all the plants shake little bit without blasting any of them. I do not have a few weeks to veg them, I was thinking two more weeks of veg max.

That is a really clean Cabinet grow, Nice job with the ducting, Does the ducting go any further besides what is shown? Like does the ducting go out the cabinet then exhaust somewhere outside your house, or does it simply have a filter on the side of the cabinet that its exhausted though. Does that make sense? Inverted and I just got some Hash plant, And I just took like a small taste of my 3 gram nug and my fucking fried...oh ya we smoked our first bowl of k2 today also maybe that's why I'm retarded. Anyway..

Thanks man. My goal is to yield at least 75% of Inverted's yield  . The ducting does not extend beyond what is shown. The light is in a cool tube, so the air that goes through the ducting comes from one side of the cabinet and is expelled out the other side. There is no need to filter it. All that is pushing air through it is a 4" axial fan that I had lying around. The temps are always below 75 degrees. If I were using a 400 watt I would buy a 6" axial fan.

Very nice! 
I might recommend that you raise the light 1-2 inches to give them a wider "sweet spot" under the light, unless you rotate them daily, otherwise everything looks nice and healthy, keep it up!

construction sites are a pretty good place to look for wood, and if it in the dumpster they will usually give it to you if you ask. or someone redoing a house could be another good source just depends on how big of a piece you need. keep up the nice grow. I hope i have that good of a grow someday, but thats why I am here to learn from those who know how to do it.

So I finally have an update. A little background first though. I left town on August 3rd (day 39 of flowering). My family and friend are taking care of the plants until harvest. I got a call from the madre a few days ago saying that she got home after going out of town herself (my homie:  was watching the plants) and she said they looked all fucked up. So I had my sister send me some pics and they do look all fucked up . I think my friend fucked up the fertilizer even though I measured it all out before I left and shit. Oh well. There is nothing left to do now but flush them anyway.

Anyone have any idea what went wrong? I think he might just not have watered them enough? I know the leaves are supposed to yellow but they are not supposed to die right? It was either a salt buildup, nutrient over/under dose. But as I said above, they are just receiving pure water at this point anyway so there is nothing to do (and nothing I can to from New Orleans).

Wonder what he could done to make it look like that if you had already mixed up all the water and nutes for him... maybe he tried adding some more or makin his own? idk must be a dumbass either way or maybe just a burnout lol
or could it be possible that maybe its just part of the genetics of the plant's flowering process? due to the lack of nitrogen in the flowering nutrients? I mean the lack of n would explain the yellow leaves, and the ones around the cola's don't look that bad.

Yeah. Whenever I leave someone in charge of a plant (be it weed, tomatoes, anything) they always fuck it up. I think the nugs will turn out very crystaly but it might no longer be like grade A+ shit like it easily could have been  .

I figured out what i wrong with the fucking plants. I finally got a hold of the guy who was in charge of watering them from August 3rd to the 9th. Turns out his brilliant ass thought that the fan leaves turning yellow mean that there was a salt buildup, so he watered with straight water two times in a row . The next person who watered saw that the plants were all fucked up looking (because my friend did not give them any nutrition during the entire 6th week of flowering, so they were given a third straight feeding of just water. I told them to stop watering with TB after week seven (at the time i thought my friend had just used a different fertilizer and the plants were fucked up for some other reason). So the reason they are fucked us because they have received one watering of fertilizer since the 5th week of flowering.
I had the Tiger Bloom measured out in little containers so that my friend could just pour them into the bucket, but he used none of it. What made me mad was two things: he consciously did not follow my instructions without informing/asking me, and he made it clear that he knew a lot less about growing weed than I previously thought. I am so pissed at him he said that the plants were probably messed up from over fertilization as the leaves are stripped of their nutrition and the buds form. He also made it pretty clear that he did not expose the water to the atmosphere overnight to let the chlorine evaporate.
I am very disheartened now. I talked with my family the as well yesterday and they say that all the fan leaves are fucked and the trichs are just now starting to turn white.

Damn man, that sucks so bad. I have a buddy that has a fairly good sized op and he will NOT leave them in the care of anyone else. Even his wife. They are his babies. Sorry about your girls getting screwed up.
