Stunting plant growth

Suppose one wanted to do an indoor Sativa project and only had 4 feet of height to do it in. How might this plant be kept short enough?

yeah, training methods are likely your answer. You can also check out this thread for other methods to keep a plant short.

Cool, thanks. I've also heard of some nutrient formulas that inhibit growth. Any such thing?

Organic sources of nitrogen supposedly give plants closer branch spacing than inorganic fertilizers. I don't know the science behind it, I just read that somewhere, I may be wrong.

I think you're referring to something like Bush Master it somewhat shortens the stretching between branches.
Some say it stops upward grow all together, I haven't used it so I don't know for sure.

Yah, I was going to suggest bushmaster as well as a chemical alternative to training your plant.
