Ready to get serious now.
    #363583 - 02/13/10 01:27 PM (14 years, 1 month ago)

OK...I've always wanted to grow seriously...but I've never had the resources.

I currently have a 150w HPS, and maybe...oh...8 CFL's. It was sufficient for my 3-4 plant grow I did a few months ago (my first one) but, I didn't really have the money for proper nutes, soil, etc.

This time, I plan on getting the following, that I am lacking:

1. Mylar (or something similar) to line the walls
2. FoxFarms Big Bloom, Grow Big, and Tiger Bloom
3. FoxFarms Happy Frog Or Ocean Forest
4. Pots to grow in
5. Timer for the lights

Now...here is what I have to work with. The middle shelf comes out, and the exact dimensions are 14 deep, 28 wide, 34 inches tall.

Soooo...how many plants could I grow in there, and be OK? I want to kinda keep them stunted...and maybe even grow in party cups. I had a friend who grew a bunch of plants in party cups in a confined space, and it worked out real well for him.

Also- any suggestions on nutes or soil, before I go pick them up? I know 100% that my hydro store stocks those specific ones, so thats most of the reason why I picked them.

Anything else I should pick up? I hear a lot about PH testing, but a lot of my friends who grow don't bother with that. I'm not too familiar with all of that either.

Thanks. Sorry for being a newbie.

Edit: LOL at my Pokemon curtains. I swear to god I'm almost 20 years old...I just likes me some Pokeman

Now for finding some seeds. I was gonna try to trade for some at the shroomery, but I found out they are illegal in the USA now? Who the fuck thought up that one? :mad2:

we were all noobs at one point.  Seeds are illegal, unfortunately.  people here usually recommend dr. chronic, seedboutique or seedbay for seeds.  That space looks really fucking tiny.  You might also look into acquiring an autoflowering strain.  otherwise you might want to go from seedling straight to flowering, but i don't usually recommend that, since it goes against the plants natural cycle.  good luck man!  fell free to make a grow log or turn this thread into one and we can help you along your journey.

Well, I just measured up my closet...its 3 feet deep, 5 feet wide, 8 feet tall...but I'm not so sure about losing my entire closet. If I could think of a good way to divide it in half, I'd maybe try that...but IDK.

oh shit!  I thought you just had like 2-3 feet of height.  8 feet is plenty tall.  i hope you aren't going to be keeping clothes in the other half of the closet.  i would expect the smell to permeate the divider and infiltrate your clothes and causing you to be the best smelling person ever, imo.  cops and other authority figures would disagree.

oh i also forgot to mention in the first post that you can use a flat white paint for reflection in the closet, if you have it and dont want to spend the $$ on mylar.  black and white polyfilm also works, its also called panda film.

Cool, thanks! :]

Yeah, the cabinet is only 3 feet tall or so, but the closet is 8. IDK though...I have a lot of crap lol.

And WOW...they really aren't giving these seeds away, eh? I might just ask around, some friends might have some for me. The seeds themselves blow 1/3 of my budget for this first run haha.

QFT

Nirvana is great for cheaper seeds.  Order directly through them if possible.  Less :money:

OK, sweet.

Thanks guys!

Provided the guy who I'm selling my Wii to on Craigslist doesn't just stab me and rob me tomorrow, I should be headed to the hydro store sometime next week!

Then I can grow some Wiid

I'm sure I'll be back with updates and questions galore. Thanks for the help so far. Anyone with anything else, feel free to chime in :]

Go with Ocean Forest, far better than the frog.  I also prefer Liquid Karma to Big Bloom, but BB will suffice if they do not have liquid karma.

Well, the guy from Craigslist just stopped in, and I got the money without getting stabbed.

Super. I'll be starting my grow as soon as I get my equipment and seeds!
