What other free site offers a player that works separate from the browser?

http://www.slacker.com/ can be played on a variety of players, some like it better than pandora, but it also has a subscription service. http://grooveshark.com/ also has a subscription service of some kind.

I dunno man sometimes I argue for the sake of arguing. :ashamed:

I just use last.fm because I like the interface and I can choose what artist to play next I hate the random artist thing of pandora I'd rather sift through the shit for the gems myself.  Then again it's not a standalone player.

Can you make custom, as-long-as-you-want playlists in last.fm?

And is there audio ads in Last.fm? If so, its not even worth it. If not, then I think I might play them both at the same time, and mix 'em up.

That's what I wish was Pandora had, but it doesn't. And what about a "back track" option? I know Pandora doesn't have that....you have to go forward all the time.

And the randomness of Pandora is what it makes it appealing: Pandora plays artists/songs you've never heard before that are similar to music you already listen to. Keeps it interesting and opens up your personal music library. Kinda like Amazon's "If you like that, may we suggest...."
