I plan on purchasing a 1000w lamp and installing it in a large shop by my house. This will be my first grow and I was wondering if I should get a MH and a HPS bulb or just one of those HPS bulbs designed for growing? How many plants plants can you grow under one light? Will the same light I use for vegetating be ok on the cuttings I'm getting from the dispensary?
Also, the room I'm growing in is huge and I plan on sticking them right in the middle. I can create great air flow just with fans and I can control the temperature in room. Odor isn't a problem. Is there any reason I would need a ventilation system?

one 1000 watt hps light is your best bet. A 1000w will cover an area of 4x4-5x5 feet. If you plant one plant per square foot thats sixteen-25 plants depending on how close you have them together. You always want gas exchange so you will need to vent the room or at least bring in fresh air. Sounds like a good area to do it in with all that room but just remember that having a 1000w light is like having a 1000w heater on full blast. the heat builds quick!

Gotcha, thanks a lot for the reply.
I'm gonna have the windows open with a bunch of fans set up to promote air flow and we're in there all the time breathin anyway lol, so I think they'll get enough CO2. I had no clue I could have that many.
I'll have 6 to possibly 8 plants max, should I get a smaller light instead?
