Update! 

All eight of the plants are above ground and looking sharp!  I can see growth in the tiny leaves already.  I'll take some pictures when they aren't babies.  fuckin pedos!

I think I will also run a contest on this grow.  It will be a 'guess the dry weight' contest.  I will display a picture of the harvest after it's done.  THen allow a certain timeline for people to submit their guesses regarding the dry weight.  Don't ask what the winner gets because i don't know.  :P  at the shroomery i would give out prints, but im not going to break the law for a contestant winner with this one.

Thanks! You can be more than a spectator tlc. 

I have been leaving the lights on 24/7 at about 3 inches above the top of the plants.  Most of them stretched more than I wanted and when i woke up this morning one of them was laying over on its side.  I managed to prop it up and now it's basking in the marshmellowey lights of the t12s.  it's reoriented itself a bit and I think i will be able to maintain it to maturity.  The roots are all coming out of the bottom now and are ready for placement into a bigger rockwool cube.  I will do that tonight.  The roots are going gangbusters.  :bigblunt:  There should be a root gremlin.

day 6

I saw my camera sitting right there so I snapped a few of the babies for ya'll.  Each picture is a different plant and the first is OG Kush and the rest are GDP.  7 total.  One GDP is missing but looks similar to the others.  There's only one runt at this point.  You know which one.

hey now, i just looked at your kush's and they look like they are about a week ahead.  It looks like a big difference though. 

Got the Metal halide bulb this past weekend.  I will probably be installing it before this week is done.  Saturday will be 2 weeks they have been in the rockwool.  Roots already growing out of the larger cubes.  Next step is to place each of these plants into the buckets I've prepared and put up the light.  I will probably want to do this like on saturday so that I can constantly monitor it for 48 hours in order to get the distance right.  Just dont want to burn my babies.  I will also add that the runt of this litter has really shaped up to be one of the nicer looking plants.  late bloomer i guess.

I see you are going with metal hallide. In your opinion if somebody was to pick a single light to veg/flower with would you go with a MH or an HPS?

Grizvok - as the thread title says, this is my second grow and I still have a ton to learn.  That's a question i don't have an answer to though.  I think ben is right though, if i had to guess.  You can veg ur plants under cfl or even some t12's.  They will do the vegin job just fine.  YOu'd probably want an hps for flowering though.  So i'd say go with the hps for those reasons. 

It'd be nice to have two different rooms so I could do some experimenting to see if there is a real visible difference.  I bet someone out there has an experimentation log that documents the differences.  I'd love to do that and get all mad scientist on it (Or see someone here who's got time and equipment).

The reason I say HPS is because you are growing the crop for the bud. HPS lights focus on the flower production. (with in the light spectrum) They also have a sufficient amount of blue light for vegetative growth.

This being said ideally you could have a MH for veg and a HPS for flowering but is all about the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

so I think either way you would be fine with the MH but for optimum THC I would go with the HPS

The plants have really gotten noticeably bigger over the last 2 days or so.  things are looking good.  All plants have a great root structure developing.  I will put them under the MH on saturday morning and spend a lot of the day watching it to make sure it's at the right level.  I'll update it on Saturday after i get everything all set up.

You're only sticking them under the MH now. Do you think the higher light intensity is a bit harsh for younger seedlings?
