Increasing humidity
    #258303 -

I'm guessing using a bowl of soaked perlite's gotta be a lot better than a bowl of water. And I've got some lying around. Would a deep plate be much better than a bowl. I'm guessing getting a high surface area would be good. Can you create too high humidity? High humidity good during flowering?

high surface area = higher humidity so better off with a plate. Get a hygrometer for ur grow-room, pretty cheap. But i never heard of using perlite to raise RH in a grow room!?!?

Yes it works, But use a big plate, like a cookie sheet. Also, do not place any pots on the perlite as it can draw the moisture out of the bottom of the pot. This dried the roots on the bottoms of my seedlings and almost killed them. But sitting on its own, it works well as long as your grow room is small. For flowering you want humidity at around 50%. Higher than that can cause mold problems on your buds. If the perlite isnt doing the job, I recommend a $50 cool mist or ultrasonic humidifier. They work very well, and can even drop the temp in your room a degree or two.

Wow I never knew perlite could dry out roots. What about if used in germination greenhouse? Currently took it out of the greenhouse. Hated cleaning it all off the bottom of the rockwool cubes. Sometimes missed pieces would find their way into the pumps.

yeah, they can dry roots very easily even in a humidity dome. that is how it did it to me, and I was misting the perlite around 4-5 times a day.
