Wilted Clone, Need Advice
    #236426 - 06/04/09 04:34 PM (7 years, 6 months ago)

Two days ago I received a clone from a friend. It was in a plastic bottle with a little water at the bottom and some ceran wrap at the top, which the plant came through.

I bought some fox farm soil and some perlite, mixed them into a black plastic pot, and put my clone into the soil.

My plant is now very wilted. My friend tells me that I should have let it root in the bottle before transplanting it. He says its probably dead :frown:.

Is there a way to save this plant? Should I buy rooting hormone and start all over?

wait, he gave it to you before it had even rooted? If he really just took a cutting and put it in a bottle with water and expected it to root, then it is certainly NOT your fault that it died.

Yes, you should buy some rooting hormone and go get another cutting from him. Only do some reading this time to make sure it's all done correctly.

Yes, with fresh cuttings it is very important that you spray them witn an anti-wilt spary or place them in a humidity dome until it roots, usually a week as long as other conditions are optimal. TEMP is a big one too. Fresh cuttings and seedling are very vulnerable to heat damage. Here's an easy chart i made from Jorge Cerventes Marijuana Horniculture Grow Bible to help with the initial process.

Come on now, let's give credit where credit is do!! :whip:

While you may have scanned, copy & pasted that image together, you should at least give a shout out to Jorge Cervantes' Marijuana Horticulture: The Indoor/Outdoor Medical Grower's Bible, which is where you lifted that tutorial from. :nonono:

To the original poster, though it's long overdue... transplanting a clone too early is unwise as noted.  You must maintain high humidity for rooting success.
