I am currently trying to germinate my seeds using the greenhouse effect. I am using blue SOLO cups and organic soilless mix mix clingwrap rubberbanded over the top.
Now, I've seen Jason Wilcox on youtube presoak his mini-planters before starting this process. But on his Germination 101 video he uses these solo cups and doesn't say if he presoaks his soil or not.
What I did was put the seeds 1 cm deep and pour about an oz of dH2O right where the seed was. The soil was already moist from adding water to it for composting a few weeks ago and there was condensation on the composting bin when I opened it up to get the dirt for the cups.
Only thing is- 12 hrs later and there is no condensation on the clingwrap. Could this just be from the temp inside the cup being the same as the outside air? OR should I be good to go?
If its sealed you should be fine until the soil is dry on top. Humidity should stay up, but remember to open it a few times a day too, because seedlings love fresh air just like Regular plants. Its hard to measure on such a small scale, but general rule is 90% humidity is the ideal moisture for seedlings and germination.
