Bakers yeast as a co2 sourse?
    #17337 - 05/02/08 02:58 PM (15 years, 10 months ago)

Would keeping a glass of bakers yeast, brewing in my room, be worth the effort.

Will it produce enough co2 to benefit my babies?

I hear a lot of growers do that. Brewing and growing in the same room are apparently really complimentary.

I'm not talking about making beer in my grow room, just a glass full of sugar water and yeast.

It is a cool idea and my friend wants to try it, but I have to imagine that a properly ventilated area will negate the effects if it runs all the time, unless perhaps you had it rigged so that each plant had a small jug releasing it directly underneath the plant.

Thats basically what I have.

I have a big 5 gallon tub with two (hopefully) females.

I keep a cup of yeast water in the tub with the plants.

I'd like to know about this sort of co2 supplementation.

I've made mash in the past and would totally make tons more if it fed my plants with co2.

Would I just put my fermenting carboys in my growroom and notice extra growth or what?

This thread was moved from Soil Cultivation.

Reason:
More appropriate for the main forum as it doesn't have anything to do with soil.

I've seen this recommended in more than one grow book. Also keep in mind that you can repitch new sugar water onto the yeast cake that forms on the bottom of the cup with no problems. It needs to be replaced once a week from what I've read. It isn't as accurate as a cylander with a gauge but it brings something to the table for not much investment.
