Re-using equipment

I would like to start growing with a grow box in soil to get more familiar with the green. Then go to something a little more dramatic. hydroponics, then along the lines of a vertical or omega garden for yield per sq ft efficiency.
Anyone know about supplementing uvb in vertical or omega gardens.
has anyone seen either of these more advanced setups being used in a box, or have info on how they are doing odor control growing in the city etc.

iirc omega gardens are self contained units that are relatively large? How do you plan on stuffing one of those in a box?
In regards to your question, it may be difficult to supplement with UVB since you should be placing the lights at least 12", if not more, from the tips of your plants. If you're using the omega which circles the plants around a central light, they may be too close for comfort and burn.

i was actually more interested in the vertical hydro setups over omega. I would just build a different box for the hydro setup etc.
I also wanted know. CC mag says that supplementing uvb will make danker bud but reduce yield. does anyone have an idea on how much. say it at maximum efficiency it was able to grow a lb a cycle, but with uvb it would produce?
also I do believe the omega volkswagon will fit in a 4x4 area, hydrohut etc

hmmm. Haven't paid too much attention to omega in years. A buddy of mine has one of their original units and that thing is large.
I never heard of UVB reducing yield, doesn't make any sense unless you're burning the crap out of your plants. The sun is the biggest producer of UVB and look at the yields you can get in an outdoor grow.
If i were you, focus on soil, or soiless mixes, for your first few grows to get accustomed to the plant and it's needs. Once you're steady with that start moving into some more advanced stuff.

Ok your opinion of uvb is apparent. I have never used it but it seems like a split of opinion all over this board. Its also suggested by ed at cannabis culture. I am not saying it helps but do you have some links to back up your opinion in an interest of reading up on the flip side of the issue.

if it was true it would be printed! and when i read about a successful expirement, or see a co-op like trichome tehnology trying it, i will take it seriously. the bible even makes reference to failed uv expierements..........pg 206.
