Why? It is most likely way past it's species average life span. Many fish species never stop growing etc.

Yea, that thing was old as hell. I don't believe in killing old fish...Old deer etc. I have not killed many deer when I used to hunt because they were too old.
Same with fish that I have caught, but if they are young and tender...It's about to get eaten.
If it's brown it's down.

Damn! My boat is only 17'. If not for my little rod ripping apart immediately I'd be in bad shape if I hooked something like that. lol

Endemic to the lower half of the Mekong river, this catfish is in danger of extinction due to overfishing, as well as the decrease in water quality due to development and upstream damming. The current IUCN Red List for fishes classes the species as Critically Endangered; while the number of individuals living in the wild is not known, catch data indicate that the population has fallen by 80 percent in the last 14 years.[4][5] It is also listed in Appendix I of CITES, banning international trade.[6]

Don't get me wrong. I feel the same way. A hunter came in the other day who had just killed a 17 point buck. I congratulated his old grinning ass while thinking I'd be happy enough to have snapped a picture and brought home a nice and tender young one instead. Large old deer like that are getting scarce here as suburban sprawl has gone crazy.

Don't kid yourself. Deer over population is a problem is many parts of the country. They will survive.

I think that's a common misunderstanding...Here in Alabama we used to have TONS of deer. I was in a hunting club that cost a good bit of money won't go in to details, and I was guaranteed to see 20 deer at least...But all of the sudden over a 2 year span you are lucky to see 2-3 deer.
I know there was a disease that killed some, but they just vanished it seems like. I quit hunting because of this...I duck hunt only now o_O
I mean I have passed up large deer, and I'll post some of my nice 8 points...And I say I would let that 17 point go, but it would depend on my mood...I may or may not.

No doubt. Young ones a plenty and they are the best eating. It's the old trophy ones here that are dimishing. Kill plenty of deer I say. I'm tired of running into the fuckers or more often them running into me. I honestly think I'd rather watch a 17 pointer than drop it asap though.

I don't remember what that disease was but we had it here too. When paddling a local river once I ran across more than 20 dead in 11 miles. I assume from the disease. That was a nasty trip.

Yea, there are. Not this time of year, but during the spring time, summer time, and fall they are out.
Weilli are what you should look for...I think they grow in that are, but regardless pan subbs grow there...Cubensis grow there...Laughing gyms, and 1-2 more that you have a chance to find.
