You didn't take a whole lot of chemistry, did you?  That one you could make from an amine and lysergic acid.  The other one you'd have to try to get a hydrazide to act like an amine, which probably wouldn't go so well.

Edit: er, not a hydrazide... something I can't think of how to name right now... but it certainly wouldn't be happy to act like an amine.

It's not any sort of typical amine (looks like a substituted purine with an extra ring on the system.  Replace the lysergic acid with a hydrogen, there's your parent amine.

No, it's not.

Psilocin is 5-OH-DMT; Serotonin is 5-HO-T.

Two methyl groups are more than one hydroxyl group by any metric I can think of (# of atoms, molecular mass, etc.)

Those images are correct.  I misspoke saying psilocin is 5-Ho-DMt; it's 4-HO-DMT... which makes you even less correct.

That's really a subjective matter at this point.
They are similarities in both cases.
Saying that a methyl is closer than a hydroxy really doesn't make much sense.

Here's how I see it...

Psilocin vs DMT - The same, except for a hydroxyl at the 4- position.

Psilocin vs serotonin - Shift the hydroxyl from the 4-position to the 5-position and remove two methyl groups.

It seems difficult to argue that 3 differences are less than a single difference.
