Temperature you vape?
    #335955 - 12/24/09 04:31 PM (14 years, 2 months ago)

Have had a friends vape for a while, he has been letting me borrow it for a bit. What temperature do you  normally vape on?

I have been doing 338f.

Just asking because I have seen people doing it from 320 all the way to 365.

I use celcius but I usually start off at 150c and go up by 5 every time the vapor isnt thick

i usually end about 175c or 180c and by that time the buds brown and theres no more vapor, any higher than about 190c and I can taste it burning a little

Alright I'll try that out later.

Also on a side note, I used a volcano for the first time at like 2:30am this morning, I have to say, they are very impressive. :volcano:

I don't like the volcano

good thing about a vape is if you're using high quality cannabis you can essentially pick your high.

here's a couple posts I made on another thread:
Quote:

THC has a lower boiling/vaporization point than the other cannabinoids, CBD.. CBN....

If you have say a 50/50 hybrid and would like a more sativa high, you set the temps low in hopes of only vaporizing the THC and very little of the other compounds.  If you want a more indica stone you crank up the temps to vaporize more CBN and CBD which account for the sedative effects of an indica.

Try and find a 50/50 hybrid and do some experiments with temp ranges.  Once you perfect the art you can choose what kind of high you want.

Keep in mind quality of herb plays a big role in getting this down.  The higher the quality, the easier it is to find the right temps and know where to set it to achieve the high you're looking for.

Quote:

******as you can see below, the temp ranges are very close together and sometimes overlap each other.  It takes practice to get it down and it helps if you know the genetics or the dominant traits of the herb you'll be vaporizing.*****

I prefer vrip-tech heat wand and your choice of bong.

volcano to me is outdated technology

I really want to try out that wand you talk about Fox, that looks like such a great tool.

Volcanos are cool and all, they just cost to much.

you would love it!

Volcano's aren't bad at all, and are a wonderful investment!  I just think compared to vrip-tech they suck :crazy2:

My experience with 'canos are dry, stale hits and not much flavor.  The vapor has too much time to oxidize while filling up inside the bag which degrades the flavanoids and terpenoids (the yummies) and also the actives.  With my wand I get smooth, moist, and extremely flavorful hits, with the added benefit of using your own water tool.

I wish I could just let everyone try it!

Fox, you spoil yourself! It seems that you've forgotten the days of smoking stems out of a crushed beer can.. Most people immediately are blown away by the explosion of flavor released from some dank through my 'cano. However I agree with your 'choosing the high' theory. When I get a bag I can usually figure out what temperature I need for my desired high relatively quickly.

OP: I don't know what temperature it is, but when I get a bag and smoke the first bowl I usually start my volcano up at 6 and work it up from there. Eventually I figure out what setting I enjoy most for each kind of bud.
As for prices of volcanos, they can be expensive; my suggestion is to buy a used one that's still under warranty. I got mine nearly 2 years used and got it fixed up like new under warranty. I think I only had to pay the shipping to Oakland.

Edit: When I had a vape brothers vape box I used to set it at ~300-316 because of the direct contact of the product with the heating element.

You're right I do spoil myself.  A large part of my opinion is based off the fact that I grew up with chronic asthma and anything less than connoisseur grade (herb and technology) can really screw my lungs up.  Volcano hits are just too dry for my lungs to handle.  Not trying to bash the volcano at all, I was definitely blown away when I first used one.

Ohhhh the good old days of foil pipes and beer cans   no wonder my asthma got worse when I started smoking!

I don't have a thermometer on my wand, but I too start from a lower temp with fresh pick ups and work my way up to the desired setting.

No I'm sorry I don't have a link.  All of that is my own words except for the scientific analysis data, which I found so long ago I don't remember where.
