What are these?

It's harvest time and 2 of my outdoor plants have these weird looking, apparently dead, things attached to the stems.  We used Safer on them consistently and believe that's the reason these bugs are dead and not actively infesting my entire crop.  But, what are they?  They appear to be dried up.  When removed from the stem, they have a flat underside and looks like they were eggs sacks of some sort.  Please help me identify what type of pest they are.  Thanks!

Its a non toxic insect killer that uses amino acids to smother bugs. But you have to use it several times because it does not kill the eggs.

Its a type of bug called "scale" they attach to the stem and siphon nutrients and vitality.

Yea that is a scale bug. Motherless fucker.

I would use either botaniguard or bt with a combination of neem and cinnamon oil with yucca extract as a surfactant.
