breeding which one to revert
    #828959 - 10/11/17 04:22 AM (10 days, 14 hours ago)

Well I'm thinking about setting up a small chamber for crossing and selfing a couple strains. I have a pineapple chunk I want to cross with a super frosty ace of spades (jack the ripper pheno) . I'm wondering which one should I revert to male? Would the one reverted carry less dominant genes or does it even matter?

My goal is to bulk up the pineapple chunk for better yields but keep the rock hard buds. That and to have something to call my own. The ace of spades seems to have a similar structure but seems to have more bud and budding sites with not as dense buds. Do you thing my goals are reasonable?

could you take cuttings from both and breed them with male cuttings from both? Will take the same amount of time and you get to see both results.

Every seed you pop is one of a kind and yours. I've crossed many a plant none have stayed long in my garden. Its fair to say that good breeders really do know what they are doing. The odds are seeds that has won a cup will be better then any cross you make even if you are crossing cup winning strains. Would it not be nice to go to the cannabis store to try the bud of the clones that they have for sale? :stoned2:

Chwyn I've thought about it, may end up going that route. It will definitely cover all the bases if there is a difference. I have space for 2-3 small plants so I'll probably revert the pineapple chunk to a male and put it in with the ace of spades. It will self it's self and knock up the ace of spades.

Rider420 Without people breeding there wouldn't be different strains to choose from at the shops. I understand that every seed is different that's why I want to do this. Someone chucking pollen and popping beans is how gg4 came about and every other strain out there. That and I'm not much for bring unknown clones into my grow .

Dont mean to go off topic but could you tell me a bit about your COBs? I saw your link and they look killer. I have a little 90w purple LED that works pretty good for starting plants for my garden. How cost effective is it to build your own lights? Hows the power usage to yield compared to hps?

Diy is the cheapest way to go with cobs. The 6 luminous cxm22 light engines, driver, and stuff for the Frame came to about $400 for just under 400 watts. I run them at 300 watts in a 2x4 tent and I get between 13-16 zips dry as long as I  don't screw anything up. It's worth if your going to be in the hobby more than a year it takes time to make your money back. Canopy Temps don't get higher than 80°f they don't put off much heat as long as i don't run them hard also better efficiency the lower you drive them. No need to run extra A/C either
