How many polyfill holes do you put in the monotub and how big are the holes?
How do you cut the holes out of the monotub and where are the holes placed on the monotub?

You use as much polyfil as you need there's no set amount. But you want the holes on top looser then the bottom ones. The holes are two inches in diameter. The easiest way to cut the hole is using a hole saw drill bit. They are placed about 6 inches high from the bottom of the tub. And about 4 inches low from the top of the tub.

I'm sorry about resurrecting this thread, but I wanted to ask about something you said. You mentioned that the mycelium would stop producing mushrooms if it contacted spores from the fresh shrooms. I just wanted to know your source for this. I haven't ever heard anything like that before, and it seemed like an interesting fact. I know if the little guys are allowed to drop spores they lose potency, but spores halting fruiting is new to me.

Its pretty common knowledge that spores dropping on mycelium will "tell" the mycelium to stop producing fruit bodies. I think I saw it from rogerrabbit or another mod on the mushroom cultivation fourm on the shroomery. This was a few years ago.

Hey bud how coarse is the verm u get for your substrate?
N u think a few big holes with polyfill will do better than a shotgun terrarium?

The verm I use is very fine so I actually double it up (2 quarts of verm).
And if you're doing a monotub type grow (using spawn and substrate) then the 6 two inch holes would probably do better. If you used a shotgun FC then I would think it would dry out a lot quicker. Also you're more susceptible to get a contamination considering the holes have no filter I.e. polyfil.

I've always done cakes or bags but im ready to start bulk, I aint fuckin around no more. I'm sick of being broke n having nothing so Im goin out n buying a new bigger PC today to get started.

I use between 6-8 quarts per tub. And nah I wouldn't think it would matter if some seeds germ. But I never ran into that specific problem.
