OK so my uncle gave me a 1kw HPS kit. My wife will not let me burn it in a small space(smart woman huh?) I'm talking like 2'x2'x6'. So I want to go with a 250w hps as I have heard they do better than CFL. So what I want to do is put up my 1000w ballast and bulb and use the reflector hood and mogul base. Does hydrofarm make a 250w ballast? Or should I buy an adapter as I am pretty sure the ballast is predominant to the hood(or rather the other way around) any help is welcomed. If you have such an outfit and are looking to upgrade I would be willing to trade!

so my best bet is probably going to be selling my 1000w, and buying a smaller setup? I am probably handy enough to rewire the hood, think it would be a better option?

If you look around ebay you can find 250w digial ballast, and then you just need a cord adapter to connect to your hood.
Someone on ebay should have those as well.

Thanks, I will probably keep the 1000w ballast for later grows, and buy a 250w bulb and ballast, and an adapter. Didn't realize I could do that. Thanks. I have a window AC that's in the room the closet I am going to use is in. They don't get too hot right? I am planning a 300cfm fan+ filter, would that be enough airflow? And would you keep it on all the time? I have 3 timers at my disposal, plants breathe at night right? So I should use one timer for my light, then have my egt fan going while the lights on, and a couple times at night? Or on always?

Personally with HID lighting I ran my exhaust fans 24/7. It's simpler and you can rrest assured your plants have fresh air at all times.

Right on. So I have 3 walls, and I put a piece of wood 6 feet high and I'm going to hang some panda film to complete the "box" but how do I allow for intake without letting light in my scenario. Can I just cut the panda film a little short so there's a slight gap in the bottom?
