I live in a flat, so... Is it even remotely possible to smoke inside without the people upstairs knowing? I've tried everything, smoke into a bottle, toilet paper tube and tissue, nothing takes the smell/smoke away.. I'm really starting to get bored of having to go outside every time.
Or is this even a stupid question

Stuff the toilet paper roll with dryer sheets and put one over the end securing it with a rubber band.  it worked when I was thirteen.

Making dabs is easy peasy.
You can use butane (most popular),hexane,ethanol,co2, or even soventless like rosin or full melt bubble hash. (Decent hash will turn into rosin when heat is applied).
But IMO dabs is the way to go of you want an "instant' stoned effect.

When I was really paranoid about my crazy neighbors, I would tape a large (50+gallon) trash bag around the end of a paper towel roll tube, then use a loose wad of paper towels to plug the tube when it wasn't in use.
Then when I woke up in the morning, most of the smell and particulate had plated out on the inside surface of the bag, and could be easily vented either indoors or outdoors without risk of detection. After a week or two of smoking, I would just make another one.

I did the same but instead of taping the trash bag around the roll, i taped the 50g bag around my head. Minimal smell and i got high as fuck. So high id pass out.

If you live in an apartment with drywall, then in all liklihood your HVAC systems are separate and the walls are mostly impermeable to large volume gas exchange, and the small amount of smoke from the joint itself will not cause any smell to migrate into the upstairs apartment.
If you really want to be safe, run all of your bathroom vents. This will put a very slight negative pressure gradient across your apartment walls, to ensure that any smokey ait does not drift through any gaps in the drywall (which is unlikely to occur anyway.

There are holes in the ceiling from the lights, smell gets up there easily as they've smelt it before from us lol
