Noob ass germination question...

I had 30x barry manaloupe (new strain from BMG, plushberry X BX?) germinating for a few days (84-88F consistently 100% humidity) and they all not only popped, but sprouted in the paper towels, about half had leafs. No resistance in transplanting them, and they're in planters in an environment consistent in temperature but only 60% humidity, I think they'll do fine, but why did they grow leafs inside a low light environment?
Do you guys think the advanced growth prior to planting will effect growth?

This thread was moved from The Smoke Lounge.
Reason: better forum Tho they should do fine. My guess on the leaves, could have been the presents of the low light.

Those are not true leaves but cotyledons (embryonic leaves). The primary function of these is the storage of nutrients.

Yeah those cotes are present right in your seed without dropping any roots. If your root is branched off when you plant, that's when they've gone too long.
Ime starting a bigger germinated seed doesn't have any lasting effects. Better to pop directly in a jiffy pellet to give the root more stabilization. That's how I like to do it.
-------------------- Of course it's happening inside your head. Why should that mean it isn't real?

Thanks guys, they're doing really well! Interesting stuff. So, RasJeph, do you mean plant the ungerminated seed directly into the planter, to then germinate for root stability, or germinate and pop directly before the first root is to be seen?
About to plant sixty more .
