Not to get technical, but...
Taste is essentially chemical interactions between compounds on our tongue and the sensing proteins on the surface of our tastebuds. These interactions are dominated by the electromagnetic force, and thus mediated by photons. Once you get beyond the sensing proteins, it's just electrical signals along nerves to the brain, which is also dominated by the electromagnetic force, and thus involves exchanges of photons.
TLDR; Taste is the same thing as color in the brain.
