The DMT in it doesn't do shit.  The 5-Meo might contribute some if you've got yopo/cohoba (peregrina) but not if you have cebil/villca (colubrina).  Mostly though, they have bufotenine and bufotenine N-oxide.  That's the active chemical in this case.

As Coaster said, you have to add baking soda or lime.  And it seems like lime works better than baking soda, for reasons that several people are working on figuring out at the moment.  It might involve lime raising the pH enough to active the 4-position of the indole ring for attack by the dimethyl(alkindole)amine to form a three-ring structure (pic)

But yeah, snorting bufotenine is definitely active (theres a great article by Jonthan Ott about it.  Currently there's still some unanswered questions, but folks are SWIMing away at the question.

If you're interested in extracting pure bufotenine, 69Ron posted a very effective tek at the DMT-Nexus.  Otherwise just face the burn
