Glad you asked, they took an exceptionally long time to get to this stage. I would estimate that they are about three months old at this point and in the last picture.

This is my first time growing seeds from this supplier so I hope that they grow true, however I have little doubt of that as a lengthy veg time is typical of trinidad scorpions I hear.

I just began germinating two Scotch bonnets, and aji lemon, and a big bomb cherry.

I'll do a seed giveaway in the spring.

The time frame is certainly not a deal-breaker but it's only a foot tall and I see no sign of it having any interest in doing anything other than continue slow and steady growth for the forseeable future..

What kind of peppers do you have going on sham?

I believe they are the tiny red/green chili peppers, The super spicy ones. I was given the plant so I didn't grow them from seeds.

Seeds I DO have are: Tobacco Rustica, Nightshade, Poppy seeds (I need to find them), Trichocereus Bridgesii (not for trade), and some random cannabis seeds. Not a lot but I am willing to trade some. I also have some spore prints.

I will have to write my list later today, it's a considerably diverse one and not something I can replicate from memory.

None of those you listed are really in-line with any of the projects I have going on right now but I would be happy to send you a couple varieties of pepper seeds to flesh out your collection.

You are a man of men, those Carolina Reapers are no laughing matter hot. Co-worker of mine plays with those and ghost in his home made wing sauce and one or two go along way.

Good thread.

Thanks man,
I forgot to mention in my earlier post that I actually got those carolina reaper plants from a large russian guy who had to stop growing them because he was developing GI problems from eating them. These seeds came from ed curry so I have every reason to believe that the fruits from these plants are not to be fucked with.

Ghost chilis are part of my daily diet, but they taste amazing and only rate 855,000shu (on average) compared to 2-3x in a scorpion or reaper (which I have not tried yet). I've heard reapers just taste like death, and scorpions have too sharp a heat to taste anything, so a lot of what I'm going to be doing will be trying to make sauces that can feature the taste of the pepper while negating some of the heat. Or even see if the taste is worth messing with. Should be interesting, at least to me.

btw ben, I'm damn sure not going to be able to use all of the peppers that I will produce in the next coming months, I would be happy to mail you some kind of hellsauce or fresh fruits so you can pull dares on your co-workers or bring them to a bbq were people are drinking or something.

Same goes for anyone else here, who might be interested in peppers or sauce. As long as you're not a well-hated member (since I pay the shipping), I have no problem clearing people's curiosity/colon.

Yeah surely! That is a very nice offer!

I have had the trinidad scorpion in sauce as well and it is just too hot. That is amazing you eat ghost like that. For me hot food is more of a pain is pleasure thing but everyday I cannot do. Plus it is a reason to have lots of beer! :drunk::grin:

Haha, I don't just chomp down on bhuts with breakfast or anything, my favourite sauce combo is ghost/habanero/thai chili and I just tend to use it with things often but not in an absurd quantity.

Again, their flavour is amazing, I don't eat them out of machismo. It's almost fruity. I will put some aside in a small sample vial for you, to include with any fruits I mail once they're grown out.

edit: ed curry, however, does indeed eat carolina reapers as a staple in his diet. his tolerance must be insane.

The yellow ones are from Ed Currie's seed company 'puckerbutt'. He's the guy that developed the carolina reaper.

The other ones are from http://www.rareseeds.com/ - Havn't had the opportunity to explore the rest of the site but I feel like they probably have other cool shit that I'll want to order from them

No problem buddy, I'm glad these scorpions are looking like they're going to grow out true. I always have a fear of mislabeled peppers when sprouting seeds from companies I don't know well.

Ashfiken, I would not normally do that for somebody who is completely unknown to me but SchLong endorsed you so I guess I don't have a problem with it.

Which ones are you interested in?
Some of them I will not have enough seeds to share until mine fruit out and I am able to harvest seeds from those pods. But if there is a variety that I have growing but do not have extra seeds for I would be happy to send you some provided you are willing to wait. That might take you out of growing them this year though.

Do keep in mind that the majority of these peppers listed are superhots, including world record holders and previous record holders. Many of them are well over 400x hotter than a jalapeno, so I don't want there to be any nasty surprises for you.

I love the hot things. Worked at a pizza place for awhile and my buddy brought in some ghost pepper flakes we then made into a pizza. It was ducking hot!!! Nose running and all, but delicious.
I may not want anything that hot, quite.
But id like to grow some heat. I'd be happy to take w/e you have plentiful amounts of. and id prefer as you can tell to grab some to grow asap. season already is bout here for me. glad shlong bought me a pass thru endorsement.. but if ya were to look on shroomery my trade ratens are thru the roof anyway. I take it seriously when it comes to commerce in these communities, and always have.. if we dont look out for each other ain't a damn other person or entity gonna do so.. anyway I have some Clemson okra, rainbow tomato, and pickling cuke seeds id trade if interested. Also entheogens, poppy and the like.

Your seeds should be there in a day or two Ashfiken.

Here are my carolina reapers, as well as smaller plants of chocolate scorpions, bhut jolokias, 7 pots, scotch bonnets, and one or two other things

Nice thread!  So what exactly do you use the sauce you make with them with?  I can't imagine eating something that hot just on top of something.  I bet that makes some killer chili though.  Honestly, I only just found out that pepper seeds were a thing lol.

I use it for pretty much any/every thing that I can. Burritos and other mexican food, I add it to soup or (more often) ramen, I make stir frys with it, add it to BBQ sauce, pretty much anything you can think of.

Here are some pictures of some of my babies most recently. 7 pots, scotch bonnets,  and chocolate scorpions.

Carolina Reapers coming in. First one was tiny so I just blended it up with a hab/ghost sauce I had made up. Now it tastes like eating needles.

I just found this thread. Cool grow!

I did a hydro trinidad moruga scorpion a few years back. I had it outdoors in a waterfarm with ff nutes. I remember doing the pepper challenge with some friends. Just ate a whole pepper and only drank water. Shit was intense.

I now have a poblano full of fruits in that same waterfarm but indoors. I have a ghost in soil container outdoors thats doin nice.

I wanna get back into the peppers so i can make my own sauces and crushed flakes.

I will glady take any seeds you have to offer. I grow everything i can but peppers are my favorite. I use them in everything from pizza, to breakfast sandwiches, to ketchup, and stir fry.

My new favorite stuff is basic asian hot oil. Just a small jar of vegetable oil 1/4-1/2 filled with crushed red peppers and steeped for days or weeks. I am in love with it now.

I should really do that but I don't have my drying game down. I'm not really sure how to get peppers well and dried with retaining the flavor and stuff. I will look it up later today because reaper oil sounds good.

I'll PM you with a seed list of stuff I have enough of to share.

I havent perfected it but i usually just grab a bunch, pooe a few small holes in them and leave them on a paper plate. Sometimes i put the plate in an extra bbq pit i have with all the vents open so it gets hot and they dry quick.

I just recently got a Dry!t rack from hydrofarm. Its been doing a really great job drying herbs indoors so i want to try it out with my poblanos once theyre done. Im gonna try just rinsing them and throwing on the rack, no holes or anything.

This is the new rack i got. Ill let you know how it works out.

https://www.hydrofarm.com/p/DR24UZIP

You can use a cheap jumbo sized 2 piece metal grinder from any smoke shop to crush them once done.

Its pretty neat. I have it hung from the ceiling and it clips on both sides so you just unclip it and flip the whole thing over instead of turning all the fruits individually.

I like the zippered one compared to the open one cuz it keeps any bugs out.

I really like this thing. Ill let you know how it works with the peppers. Ive heard people say they work awesome with buds.

Well then thats even better. If you have some extra space on it just throw some peppers on it to try out. Reaper oil does sound good.

I have no experience at all with those hanging dryers. But would a dehydrator (I use is for tons of other shit) work? Or does that dry the peppers too quick to preserve flavor like it would for budzz?
I'm gonna try some of that oil smokesome.. sounds perfect to season and blast some heat onto anything while cooking, although I may use a diff type of oil..

Thanks for wishing me luck sleep aid, ill check back in this thread once I get some seedlings to repot stage.

Cheers

I really dont know about the dehydrator. For sure itll dry them but i dont know about the flavor retention. Ive always read that air drying is better though regardless of what herb, fruit, or shroom youre using. Sort of the like using microwaves for cooking...theyre convenient cuz theyre quick but food cooked in an oven or stove is usually better.

And what other oil would you plan on using? Ive read to use your favorite vegetable oil. Most asian dishes use peanut or sunflower but im wondering if i could use olive for italian cooking.

Imagine thc wax infused coconut oil turned spicy with peppers. That would make for some interesting dishes to say the least.

:crazy2: omfg the layers of greatness.
Yeah I was thinking Asian style oil, and I absolutely think olive oil would be Badass for certain dishes, although none of these are as versatile as your veg oil.
About the drying, id speculate to say you are right, anything that you don't wanna lose flavor of or isn't super high in moisture you wouldn't wanna dehydrate for best results. Just walked into a htgsupply store, those fellas had their peppers hanging\drying in one of those things ^^^

Cheers

My reapers look a bit weak tbh. Ripening though. They do not have the classic 'stinger' style pod that I was hoping for and do not have the kind of dimpled look I would look for normally.

Bummer. They're known to have two style pods, luckily I have new flowers coming in for further peppers. hope they look a bit better.

Pepper spray is anywhere from 500k SHU to 5 million SHU, depending on how it is diluted. Also Carolina reapers should be on there clocking up to 2.2m.

Trinidad moruga scorpions don't usually go that high to 2m SHU, they generally sit closer to 1.2m SHU but "Butch-T strain" trinidad scorpions get as high as 2m and is the strain that got TMS peppers in the guinness book of world records in 2011 just under 1.5m. I'm sure you can find some other individual plants with super high levels of heat but in general they're not that high up there.

awesome infographic, I hope all that medical stuff is true...

So I planted 5 white habs and 5 scotch bonnets, and here are the four s.bs I could fit in my lil veg space. None of the white habs germed. but these seem to be doing awesome. My only question is what size pot you finish in?

Peppers usually need at least a 5 gallon minimum to grow to full size. Some people use something slightly larger such as a 7 or 9 gallon so they do not get root bound but peppers are not the biggest plants anyways. I've seen good yields out of 3 gallons but they get root bound quick.
