geo did you specifically prune that habanero plant to grow straight up before branching out into a little canopy?

i really like that shape, and how the peppers hang down into the empty space below.  i am thinking of trying to achieve that with the 3 habanero seedlings i have going now.

I acquired that habanero as a seedling, so I did not do the pruning.  But it seems like whomever did grow that one, waited for it to gain a little height
before topping it (chopping off the central stalk), and then topped two of the off-shoots again, making the nifty bonsai shape that the plant is in.

So what do you do with those? Plug em?

Nah.  I often take the habaneros as a party gag, once we're all nice and sauced,
and try to get someone to eat a chunk, then amusing myself with the hilarity that ensues.
That, or just add 'em into any one of the many cooking experiences I entrench myself into daily.

The li'l fucker dug straight down to the roots and nibbled plenty of leaves.  :crankey:

I checked all the nooks and crannies of the
house, couldn't figure out what it was.
Vacuumed, and I found this guy in the house
(whom I dumped outside, where this pic was taken)...

But the next morning the plants were chewed up again!
I finally caught this cute li'l mouse with a glue trap.
Had the displeasure of severing his brain stem the next morning
(as I didn't want him to starve or overheat to death in the garbage can).

In honor of fallen mouse, I picked up this healthy jalapeno plant from the local nursery.

The End (for now).

just for fun

a couple weeks ago when i cut up a red bell from stop and shop, i saved the seeds and dried them, then threw them in some MGMC in some extra trays that were lying around in the garden.

after a few rain storms:

these are the habanero seedlings i was talking about earlier in the thread.  they've really started to take off in new soil.

these are two yellow bell plants that are sending out tons of flowers.  does anyone have experience with bell peppers?  i'm assuming i have to remove most to let the best 4-5 grow on each plant.

here's a little plot with several varieties that i don't remember

another plot.  all those berries on the ground are from the mulberry tree overhead.

this is my roomate's vietnamese chili plant.  i think it is 5+ years old.

when all the chilis turn dark red the plant looks awesome

and a bunch of new seedlings for when i get bored

update on my habaneros.  i've grown these from seed, and i've been training the one on the right into a tall tree shape, and the one on the left into a little bush.  up until a week ago i've been picking off the flowers to get then to continue growing w/o spending energy on flowering.  i'm letting them go full force now, i want to see how many peppers i can get on each plant.

ugh this thread is making me miss the growing season, i grow peppers every year and the winter sucks cause i cant grow them :frown: I just harvested all my peppers (about 5 lbs) and filled 4 one quart jars with destemmed and sliced variety of peppers than filled it with vinegar. Going to let them sit for 6 months than grind them up into hot sauce!
