is it cuz indica/sativa turns purp in the cold or it just grows that way under normal conditions?

Looks like it got purple from the cold. The purple is concentrated on the leaves covering the bud. That is usually from the cold.

I think magash nailed it. I've been abusing my plants with cold nights for the sheer joy of looking at them and I've surprised what turned purple like that. I've been pondering it maybe affecting aromatics too

Buds that have purple on the leaves on the outside of the bud is cause of the cold. When the purple starts at the calyx and works it's way out it's usually genetics.

You know appx what temp is needed? One of my strains went almost black outside and I'd love to replicate it indoors.

With most strains like GDP or Lavender it will start in the mid to low 60s.
