Clearex advice
    #742003 - 07/29/14 03:44 PM (9 years, 7 months ago)

Hello everyone, I have just purchased botanicare's clearex.

Does anyone have anything to say about clearex? When do you use it and have you noticed any positive results since using it? Or is it just a marketing scheme and I just wasted my money?

All advice and discussion is appreciated, just remember to do it intelligently :smug:

First I'll be a dick.  If  you didn't know what it was for, why did you buy it?

Second, it's a clearing agent used for flushing your soil.  It helps grab any built up salts and flush them from the soil.  Other than that, it doesn't have a use.

Yes I knew what it did before I bought it lol. I just wanted to know like how much people used per gallon, when to use etc.

Well you use it either at end of harvest flush, or when you are experiencing salt build up

haha he just meant he doesn't know what it's made from... I think. 5ml per gallon is the recommended dose for the 8oz sample bottle of DETOX I got from mad farmers website. I just assume it's something that neutralizes salts? no idea what flush solution is made from.

No, man, I know what it's made out of I just want to know like when you guys use it.
I've heard of:
Flushing when switching from veg to flower
Flushing 2 weeks before harvest
Flushing 3 days in a row (the 3 days before harvest)
Flushing every day for 1 week before harvest

Essentially what I'm asking is when do you guys flush? And if you use clearex when flushing, what is a good dilution rate for it? Thanks for the help guys and sorry for the confusion.

Well with that one, since it's not a nutrient, use what it tells you to use.  I personally don't use a flushing agent.  Flushing with a very low PPM solution of normal nutrients can help grab onto those extra salts.

But I think the advantage with using Clearex, is that you don't have you use nearly as much water in comparison.

My personal flushing routing is once mid way through flower, and the water for the last 1 1/2-2 weeks.  But everyone has their own way of doing things.  I could probably get away without the midway flush, but I just like doing a preventative measurement.

Thanks for all of the great information, Hawk. What would be the risk of not flushing mid-way through flowering? I myself am about half way through flowering and I flushed 2 days ago.

Well there is the possibility of having toxic salt build up.  But all of this is dependent on how you are growing, and how much nutrients you are using.  Usually TSB(that's what I'm going to call it now) happens when people are feeding high doses of their nutrient solution, and doing it every time they water.

I have never had it happen.  And with how I apply nutes, not super aggressively, but not super light either, I doubt that I would get it.  But I like to do it just as a preventative.

Wow another very informative response, thank you. Do you have any idea at what range of PPM will TSB occur if you are feeding every watering? Or is this very different on a case by case basis? Thanks again man.

PPM will depend on the nutrient line you use, from my understanding.  From what I can recall, Botanicaire reads lower than others due to it being semi-organic or some shit.  But that could be a whole load of shit for all I know.

Have you done grows before dude?

The questions you are asking are really kind of hard to answer.  There are so many variables to it.  It's not cut and dry, which I feel like you think it is.

I'm currently growing one plant but two more are on the way soon. I understand growing isn't black and white. I'm just trying to educate myself as much as I can so I can be successful. Sorry for bombarding you with questions though, I could see it getting very annoying after a while. You just have such quality information and I have so many questions  Thanks again man you really have been a huge help
