yeah, and that too. but i listen to all sorts of music, not just emo, so go emo music, for being accessible and having good bands that do good writing and compose good tunes.

i know what you're trying to say is Zappa is good (agreed, listening to his music always makes me laugh, and on Acid, possibly roll on the floor, plus amazing guitar, and writing... "i dun even care if you shave yer legs" i mean fuck ya) and that MUSIC is implied as solely classic rock.
or rock in general, and not anything outside of those boundaries. but unfortunately, there is literally A WORLD (see what i did there?) of music,... and not all of it is Frank Zappa or Pink Floyd.
i like Mr Bungle, maybe that's why i just listen to just about anything that's good.  i am not gonna judge a band for being "shitty" or "not music" just because it's of a genre i don't generally listen to, even though i listen to all sorts of genres of music. so dude... don't lecture me. i am telling you Alkaline Trio is a good band. you don't have to believe me or agree but don't tell me what music is and isn't. i listen to classic rock, prog rock, post-rock, rock-rock, and just about every other combination of rock... jazz-rock... ever hear Sunken Condos by Steely Dan writer Donald Fagen?
jazz, third stream, m-base, avant-garde, classical, rap/hip-hop, r&b electronica, noise-rock/pop, punk, metal... ect ect ect even pop. you'd probably laugh... you might even be sickened... but try me. i'll convince you of some good pop music, because not all pop music is bubblegum, or dance oriented.
it's all f'n good.
try looking up Shapeshifter by Young Galaxy on youtube, and check them out. or check this out...
tell me this isn't at least decent to you...

Man all music is good with the exception of all that pop shit.

two of my favorite music groups. (Crosby Still and Nash are up there, but i don't listen to them alot)
pop shit is that video though, by the way... i kinda can agree that hey pop ain't for everyone. it's gotta be a very very particular mood to even enjoy it, period. (for most people who listen to rock, mostly)
but still, you can see that some pop might just strike a chord, like that Majikal Clouds song i posted. you say you enjoyed it still, so there ya go. it's not MY first choice either, but when i heard that song the first time (with the video too, which made it even better, cause that video is friggin sad and goes with the song so well) yeah... i pretty much said "well, fuck that was a powerful song".
so it's not all like "this music sucks ass" it's more like "this is definitely not the music i am in the mood for at all".
PS: Boards of Canada at 16 was a godsend. i loved them even before i did mushrooms... then after that... oooh boy... my second big dose trip, i listened to their whole catalogue of tunes... and i was on rollercoaster. love em.
