One of the cooler things about growing with a good LED light is when its too close you get these all white nuggets that look bad ass. The cheaper fixtures dont usually do this, they just don't have the intensity.
Despite being completely white they still grow and smoke like normal. The LED is gentle on the plant but still intense. This is a new crop from a seed. I gave a buddy an Alaskan Thunder Fuck X Romulan and he got it pregnant with one of six males: Grand Daddy Purple, Alpha Dog, Cheese, Phantom cookies, Kens kush and God Bud. So it should be pretty bomb, and it smells pretty dank as well. Pineapple and berry ish, the other from seed smells like a pink now-and-later. Very dense nuggets as well. They're both almost pure sativas and stretched out a grip.
The photos don't do this justice, there is a lot more white nug than what appears in the photo.
This plant was very sensitive, the lower bud to the right near that shade leaf is also bleached, its a +24" from the fixture.
People's reactions are great, one guy said he'd pay double to smoke that.

i saw a few vids on youtube with "hash tips" (and tons of info/sites) on it.
Apparently its common with high end led grows

How close are the lights?
What kind of LED you using if you don't mind me asking?

Its about a foot from the light, closer than they recommend but the sativas stretched more than I hoped. The lower nug that is bleaching is about 2.5-3 feet away.
Using the Advanced LED Diamond Series DS400 in the center between 6 DS100's and 4 Blackstar 240s. It only happens under the Advanced fixtures, more probable under the DS400 though.

Ya. Not sure exactly what wavelength is causing it. I just got a new LED that has a different spectrum that might solve that, as its not always an issue with every high end light. People are thinking it has something to do with the infra red.

Do you have any examples of buds like this dried? I'd be very interested to see how those look right before you break it up to smoke.

When its just a small tip its hard to even see them once they're dry. This one should be more noticeable because its got a lot. I'll try and get some good photos

Hard to get a good photo with my camera, the pictures don't do it justice. There is a slight yellowish brown tint to it but thats normal for it to not be as bright as when it was still growing.
Its curing in a jar right now for a few months and I'll try and get a photo when its all loaded up.

Those look cool as fuck. I presume there's no noticeable difference in potency with those white parts? I feel like bleaching the chlorophyll out a bit helps you see the anatomy of the bud a little differently. But then who here doesn't like having their view of things twisted upside down?

They smoke the same. I haven't had enough bowls to notice a difference. The LED is intense but still gentle on the plant because of the absence of excess infra-red.

All the photos I have in one post, been curing these last few top buds for a year now. Got some fresh macro shots up. By far the highest quality bud I've ever smoked, and such a unique flavor its hard to resist smoking these last few nugs, but well worth it.
cured 10 months:
      
     
12 month cure macro shots. I broke the bud open to get those last one's of the inside of the bud where the THC is at its highest and leaf is non existent.

You need a proper sealing jar and buds at proper moisture level to keep them from drying out, as long as you don't keep opening it... But ya, Boveda.
I've been keeping it in one of these jars.

The one and only time I used a Boveda pack it molded my stash. It wasn't too moist either, if anything it was too dry. Ive been scared to try them again.

Those jars are expensive, but still good to have a few of them for different heady stashes. My brother had a set but most of them got jacked. I keep my bomb nugs in that jar and have a small one that I store all my scissor hash in. Then I let that stuff age and smoke it on some nice cured bud. Sure its fun smoking when your trimming, but try saving it and crumbling it over a nice bowl of the finest nug on the plant.
Are you sure you got the 62%? Sounds like something was a miss. They're supposedly making a 54%? or something like that for cannabis. Different nugs require a slightly different humidity, but also its probably better for when your pulling out of the smoke jar to use the lower humidity to keep them in the prime for smoking, but 62% for the curing process.

Yes they were 62%, just checked my Amazon account to make sure. Are they not supposed to come in contact with your nugs? Because I just threw them into a mason jar right in the middle of them.

Mine are touching the nugs. Sounds like maybe there was too much moisture for the boveda to handle effectively.
