Diatomaceous earth ?
    #714181 - 02/11/14 03:28 PM (10 years, 1 month ago)

I have a bad gnat infestation, sticky traps kept the numbers fairly low for awhile but they're picking back up so I bought some diatomaceous earth and put a thin layer on the top of the soil for all of my plants.

When I water its obviously going to mix this stuff with my soil, so should I hold off on the silicon for awhile? I read that this stuff is primarily silica. Any other problems I should look out for?

yeah  diatommaceus earth will help keep their #'s down for sure. It won't interfere with your nutrient regimne either. I've used it indoors and out. Its also  great for deterring slugs from your outdoor plants.

The trouble is after a few waterings you will expose the soil and those little fuckers will lay more eggs.  They can live for 2 weeks flying around. Your best bet is a systemic pesticide. I use sns 209 to kill off gnats when they appear. It works fucking awesome. After a few feedings w/ it the adult gnats just fly around my room and avoid my plants all together. Seriously consider giving it a try.

Check it out. SNS 209

It's organic as well :vaped:

Wow that almost sounds too good to be true...so you cant taste it in the smoke at all? Im guessing it wouldn't be a good idea to use it close to harvest...

I've only used it in veg. On the bottle they suggest you stop using it 2 weeks from harvest. That'd be plenty of time to flush it from the plant.

Got my bottle today. It doesn't specify on the label, can you mix it in when you feed or should it only be used by itself?

You can use it when you feed or when you water.
