 First grow soil?

I was out running around and found a local spot for FFOF and picked up a bag. I am getting ready to germ and now am looking at soil. It seems that for every one person that uses FFOF for seedlings and has good luck with it, there is another that says its not the right soil for seedlings because it is to hot. What is the best soil for a beginner using 400MH and HPS set up. I am not really looking for huge yields, just huge results. I know that a can't keep from making mistakes(for me that's the best way to learn sometimes) but I think I can keep from making rookie mistakes. Thanks so much

NOt looking for huge yields, but huge results? What do you mean by that?
FFOF will do just fine for seedlings. It CAN be a little hot, but they get through it just fine. There are seedling starter mixes if you are super worried about it, but I never use them.

My grow space is small so I was not expecting big yields, but instead I am looking for quality. Is what I meant between Rosenthal and a couple of other books I've been reading and the threads it all has run together in my head. Thanks for the reply

Why choose between one or the other? Read a lot, listen to the Trusted Cultivators on here, and get both.

Thanks for the reply. My space is 3x3x4-5' I am using MH for veg and HPS for flower 440cfm inline fan with variable autotransformer for speed control carbon filter inside of box painted flat white. I am just starting construction of the grow box so any info on how I could improve I am all ears. This is my first grow and am for focused on quality than quantity right now, because for me once you nail down quality quantity comes easy. Peace
