I noticed one of their products has hydrolized whey protein in it. Has anyone ever experimented with feeding plants protein? It seems like it would help stimulate the beneficial bacteria.
I was thinking of using some hemp seed instead and just grinding it to a super fine powder, then mixing into a gallon of water with molasses, mycorhizae, and some FF big bloom. I know in bonsai they use seed cakes to feed the trees. It would also seem like hemp seed would be a better way to give the plants protein because the amino acid profile will be exactly what the plant would need! I am hoping that using protein could help bulk up plants, but at the same time it sounds ridiculous.
I have two seedlings so I can run a little experiment. I'll keep you guys posted. If anyone knows anything about using protein supplements for plants please let me know.
Update: well I tried it on a couple of seedlings by mixing up a gallon of nutrient solution then taking a portion of that and mixing in some whey protein and a tiny bit of sweet dairy whey, about 1.5g total in a quart of nutrient solution. Nutrient solution was two types of guano for nitrogen and phosphorus and then organic molasses for potassium, it also had beneficial microbes from FF microbe brew.
The seedling that I watered with the whey does seem to be a little bit bigger now than the other one, and they have both grown a bit in the last few days. I am having trouble uploading pictures but I will try to figure it out soon.
