Planning on giving an indoor grow a try. I've got about a hundred seeds from various bags.
My question is I'm planning on using florecents(spelling) for germination and veg. I've got 2 fixtures, 2 tubes per fixture. Anyone recommend a "special" type tube?
Total newbie to this. I'm an avid gardener and amateur bonsai freak so plants are nothing new to me.
Plan on starting with 10 seeds to see what I get.
Also wondering what is the quickest way to determine sex when starting from seed. I'm just hoping out of 10 plants at least one will be female and then I plan on doing my bonsai stuff on her and just take cuttings.

Well the best fluorescent lamps are high output T5's but your fixture would need to have a HO T5 ballast. Get whatever lamps fit your fixture and get daylight or 6500k lamps. Open up your fixture, check the ballast label, and look for the biggest lamp size it will run i.e. 2f32t8 would be (2) 32 watt T8 lamps.
FYI T12, T10, T8, T5: all numbers equal the # of 1/8" increments of the diameter of the lamps.
T12 = 12/8" or 1 1/2" diameter
T8 = 8/8" or 1" diameter
T5 = 5/8" diameter

Started a ghetto grow 2 days ago. Gonna see what I can do for zero dollars.

Just wait it out. They show their sex at about 6-8 weeks.
You can always force flower by putting them on a 12 on 12 off cycle. But the 12 off needs to be completely dark and then you have plants that are flowering. And it sounds like you want to keep the females as mothers.

Err is it a typo or do you really think you'll get 1 female out of 10? It's prolly gonna be half half.

Just hoping for at least one. I know how to grow plants. I know how to bonsai. It's gonna be great!
