I thought it would be good to start a thread here about this subject.
Every so often, I hear that the cops in my area, raid and shut down a number of indoor grow ups.
I am wondering how the poor guys get caught like that.
Anyone have any input?
My first guess, is that someone calls crime stoppers or a nosy neighbor calls it in due to smell or tattle tale signs.
what are your thoughs folks? What can we do to keep smokey the bear the fuck out of our honey pot

Most of the time it's loose lips.
A grower tells one person, someone they know well and trust.
Once that's done, it's only a matter of time. That one person may tell someone else for a lot of reasons: they're worried about the grower, they have a fight with the grower, they tell somebody that they know and trust, etc.
That's the chain that leads back to the grower.
Outside of that, poor odor control, selling out of your house, and/or other indiscreet or non-security minded behavior are a distant second through fifth or so.

Don't tell no one, don't sell it, don't ever take anything outside with you and pay with cash when you can. Then you're very safe.
If you want to make bank in this life, there's always risk and there's always competition.
