I am very excited. My dad used to take me out of school to go see LOTR.
Also did you hear about the Colbert cameo? He is doing a whole hobbit week on his show. Great interview with Ian.

I think one of the first times I ever smoked with my cousin (reuniting us as good bros) was when we went to see the third LOTR movie. I should see if he wants to go see this one with me.

LOTR is perfect to me. Its got everything I like.
I really enjoy space, but Star Wars never did it for me. I like the aliens, don't get me wrong. I guess I didn't care AS much for Star Wars because of the technology. I feel like anything can be achieved with technology, but when stuff is set in medieval times like LOTR, everything relies more on the mysticism of the environment.
IDK if that makes sense. And I'm not saying one is better than the other, its just my personal opinion :]

Makes sense
I am more into science fiction than mysticism. That's where our differences are.
Plus (and I say this with very limited knowledge of LOTR), Star Wars seems much more in-depth with the number of characters, planets, races involved.
The back stories behind why the sith want revenge on the jedi are epic but left out of the movies

What I dislike about The Hobbit is that they will split it into two movies, I mean it can be a good idea if you want to have more thangs to watch, if you want the movie to be like the books, but imo its also simply a way for them to make money
I like Star Wars also, but I do prefer medieval era to future

Well I am excited to be stoned for The Hobbit movies since I wasn't a stoner when the LOTR movies came out. I love that they are always puffing on pipe weed.
The Lord of The Rings movies are by far the most well done and best movies if you are comparing LOTR, Star Wars, and Harry Potter. I still need to read the books though, but I hear from people who have read them they are the most well adapted too.
I think it's cool the Hobbit will be in three parts. Books get a lot taken out when they become movies. A 2 hour movie is usually a 100 page screenplay. The Hobbit is a short book but in three parts they can really do it justice and include everything, plus it spreads it out and makes for more good movies.

Those books were a fun read. Obviously not something epic like LOTR. But just fun.

In all honesty I never gave Harry Potter much of a chance. Ive seen bits and pieces of a couple of the movies and that's it
I was a jock growing up and it was what my younger brother was into. I never really started reading novels until the last 3-4 years. I was always more into instructional reading. Like handbooks and How-to stuff. Ive read sooo much survival books and shit like that
