Who else is a fan?
If you don't know who he is then read his wiki, you probably are familiar with at least one of his books or one of the movies they have been turned into. Link to Wiki
His books are amazing. I love the movie A Scanner Darkly and the original Total Recall was really good too, those were based on boos by him.
Right now I have two books I am reading by him. One of them has four of his novels from the 1960's in one book- The Man in the High Castle, The Three Stigmata of Palmer Eldritch, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?, and Ubik.
The Man in the High Tower (which I am reading now) takes place in an alternate universe where the axis power won WWII and Japan took over America. Japan also legalized cannabis for us, and marijuana cigarettes are everywhere and used by everyone just like tobacco cigarettes are now.
The other one I am reading is Radio Free Albemuth.
The guy was really weird and fascinating. The concepts he wrote about were ahead of his time and his style inspired a whole new style of surreal writing and movies. He used a lot of drugs- his favorite being speed by also opiates, psychedelics, and of course marijuana.
During his life he had some really crazy mystical experiences, for instance at one time he says he was two lives- One in this universe as Philip K Dick and one in an parallel universe where he was a Christian being persecuted by the Romans in 1 AD. He must have had some a DMT leak in his brain.
