So I have my spot scouted for next season and I am ready to prepare it. It is a beautiful location... a small clearing maybe 15x15 surrounded by thick, but not too tall, brush. Easy for me to get to yet remote, and a water source nearby. The only potential issue seems to be groundwater. Perhaps a foot and a half below the surface is the water table (at its highest but it seems relatively constant).
Can I work around this? Will it be too moist?
The surface does dry up, and halfway between the surface and water is moist to the touch but not sopping wet.
I have potting soil and peat out at the location already. What I am thinking is either trying to find a nearby source for small stones or bring some gravel in with my ATV for base drainage, then build mounds on top of this protruding out of the ground.
Perhaps I could even exploit the groundwater and have rags running from the soil down to the groundwater wicking moisture upwards?
What do you guys think?

Dig a hole 1ftx1ftx1ft, then see if it starts filling up with water. If it does, then it's going to stay too wet for marijuana, and there's not much you can do about it, besides grow in smart pots above the ground.

I have, just the bottom fills up.. maybe a couple inches.

Even if you put drainage gravel above the highest water point? And build the mount up out of the ground? This spot is so mint otherwise.

You can try it, but I'd put money that you'll end up having issues.

For being a rural area, there are really so few good locations around me. So much of the land is thick thick brush. The only good spots seem to be old farm fields partially succeeded and I really worry about hunters/hikers at most of these spots. This one in question I feel very confident it would not get discovered as it is so remote and even hard for me to get to. I guess one should not put all their eggs in one basket as its always a compromise somehow.
